Meet Rachael & mikey Sorboro
We started Columbus Diaper Bank in 2013 after Rachael heard a story on NPR about diaper need. We didn't have children yet, but we couldn't stop thinking about the families who were struggling to afford something so essential. We quickly learned there wasn't a diaper bank serving Central Ohio, so we traveled to Washington, D.C., to learn from an existing organization. We even got a little advice we didn't expect: "Whatever you do, don't start a diaper bank."
Of course, we did it anyway.
What we thought would be a straightforward effort to provide one basic item quickly became something much bigger. We learned that diapers aren't covered by programs like WIC, and that families from every background experience diaper need. After becoming parents ourselves, we understood that reality on an even deeper level.
Over the years, Columbus Diaper Bank has grown because of an incredible community of volunteers, donors, partners, and advocates who believe every child deserves a healthy start.
We hope you’ll join us in working toward a Central Ohio where every family has access to the essentials they need to thrive.
